Why Swiss Delta?
Foundation
Over twenty years ago, Bill Anspach established the Seattle Watch Company and embarked on a career of designing and manufacturing watches for prestigious American brands. Trained as an industrial engineer, the timekeeping field presented a new opportunity for Mr. Anspach to exercise his understanding of systems and rigorous application to detail. Swiss Delta, his first in-house watch brand, is the culmination of many dedicated years honing the technical expertise to make fine Swiss made mechanical and quartz watches.
Having grown up in Newport News, Virginia, Mr. Anspach spent time working at the town’s shipyard, where a quote from its founder, Collis Porter Huntington, became for him a deeply-treasured life philosophy: “We shall build good ships — at a profit if we can, at a loss if we must, but always good ships.” The “Delta” of Swiss Delta marks our commitment to this philosophy. Swiss Delta’s triangular logo also refers to the mathematical symbol for change, delta (∆). In manufacturing processes, delta is used to describe slight but notable variations in precision. Here in the Pacific Northwest, fields like aeronautics, the medical industry, software engineering, and now watch-making require very high functional integrity, or a close-to-nil change in precision, to ensure products are well made, safe, and reliable. We take precision so seriously we’ve made it a part of our name. After all, a watch is only as good [as the time it keeps] as it is accurate. At the core of any sustainable business are effective foundational values and principles. Integrity, quality, honesty, and doing what’s right lie at the heart of our vision for Swiss Delta, and form the basis for our business model. We’re pledged to always make a better watch.
